ENROLLMENT

1. What are the requirements to enroll?

Passion for software engineering and willingness to be trained.
● A degree/HND from any course in the university/Polytechnic.
● Possession of NYSC discharge certificate or Letter of exemption from NYSC.
● Ability to prepare for and pass the entrance assessment tests and interview.
● Good coping skills and ability to endure training for long hours

2. How do I get funds for payment?

The cost of the training is 3million Naira only. You can fund the training in any of the following ways;

● We will fund your training fully if you sign a bond to work with us for a minimum of 4 years after the training.
● The FGN pays for your training through the CBN intervention funding scheme (Software Engineering students loan).Under this arrangement, you will get a brand new laptop (available to you during the period of the training), 30,000 Naira monthly stipend, as well as free accommodation for the duration of the training.
● You pay for the training yourself (Self sponsorship).

3. How long is the training?

The training will last for 6 months with 2 months internship.

4. How many hours do I commit to training each week?

You are expected to commit about 9hrs for training Monday through Friday, and 4hrs training on Saturdays.

5. Can I get tech jobs while training?

Yes, you get outsourced while training (if you are good). However, you will only get a full time job when you complete the program.

6. Where is the training going to hold?

The training will take place at Lagos, Nigeria.

7. Will I be accommodated?

Decent accommodation is provided for trainees close to the training facility.

8. Will there be job placements after training?

Yes, provided you are good.

9. Can the training also be online?

Yes, training can be offered online and on-site.

10. Can you explain the work-bonding plan if Alva OS sponsors me?

If AlvaOS sponsors you, you will sign a bond stating you would work with us for four (4) years after your training.
You wouldn’t pay for training or accommodation. However, you won’t get incentives such as laptop (to use during the period of training) and the 30,000 Naira monthly stipend.

11. What if I take the FGN funding (CBN Software student loan)?

You are to provide a guarantor.

However, you are required to pay back over a period of two years only after you get a job (starting from 9 months after accessing the student loan).

12. Do I have to pay the FGN loan back with interest?

You are to pay an interest of not more than 9% per annum. This rounds up the amount you’re to repay at the end of the two years to 3.6 Million naira.

13. Is AlvaOs a Nigerian company?

No. It is a US company with remote staff in UK and a branch in Nigeria.

14. Can I run the training alongside my postgraduate program?

It depends on the individual. It is possible to combine both if you put in hard work.
You also have the option to go at your pace, making you complete the training in 12-15 months instead of 6 months. This would make you pay more attention to your studies.

15. Is the training more theoretical?

No. The training is more practical.

16. How do I get in?

You will undergo written and oral selection test. Qualified candidates would be contacted after this test.

17. What does the selection test entail?

You will be tested on basic aspects of programming, mathematics, logic, learning speed and focus.

18. Will I get certificates after the program?

Yes, and in addition you can get other international Software Development Certifications of your choice after taking external examinations at the end of the program.

19. Will the test be online or on-site?

It will be online for online candidates and on-site (and some aspects online) for on-site candidates.

20. Can I apply even if I have zero knowledge of coding?

Yes, you can. But you should be able to learn fast.

21. What is the salary structure for newly trained software engineers?

Salary depends on your skillset and how well you able to deliver your projects, but salaries are very competitive.

22. Can I apply software engineering in my present field?

Yes. Tech is applicable in every field so long as you know how to work around it.

23. What are the things I will learn in the program?

Python, Java, CSS, Javascript, NodeJS, Kotlin, Front-end and Back-end development as well as other in-demand programming languages.

24. Is accommodation compulsory?

No, it is not.

25. Can a full stack developer work with the company remotely?

Yes, this is possible if he/she is very good.

26. Can someone already a bit good with programming apply?

Yes, they can.

TRAINING PROGRAM

27. How are AlvaOs online courses delivered?

The course content is the same for both online and on-site trainees. There will be an online learning module on the website where you’ll access the lectures delivered to on-site trainees. There will also be a link to access the lectures while it is being delivered and through other online platforms.

28. Can I work ahead of the course pace?

Yes, you can work ahead of the course pace for personal development, but the practical sessions and assessment will have to be at the course pace because the trainers and mentors will handle the trainees in teams. You will require quality supervision to successfully complete the practical sessions

29. Will I need to pay for additional study materials?

No, you don’t need to pay for additional study materials.

30. Can I list the certificates I got from AlvaOs on my resume?

Yes, you are expected to list the certificates on your resume. They will make you more marketable.

31. Am I required to take all the courses?

Yes, you are required to take all required and supplementary courses, except the electives courses which are optional.

32. Can I defer my admission?

Yes, only if you present tangible reasons.

33. How can I access the CBN loan for my training?

Students who pass the final assessment test and interview will immediately be offered an admission letter which can be used to process the CBN Software Engineering Loan from designated Banks. Please note that you will require a suitable guarantor for the Banks to process your student loan.
